In Oban people lined the streets to pay their respects to the fallen.
A parade led by Oban Pipe Band and Oban High School Pipe band marched from the Corran Halls to the war memorial on Corran Esplande followed by the many organisations.
The wreath-laying ceremony was led by readings from Lesley Blair-Simmonds from the Royal British Legion and Jamie Mellor on behalf of the Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute.
The first wreath was laid by Graham MacQueen, deputy Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute, who was followed by representatives from all of the various organisations in the town.
In attendance were the Royal British Legion, sea cadets, army cadets, air force cadets, boy’s brigade, brownies, guides, police and coastguard.
Parade Commander was Frank McKenna, Oban High School teacher and former marine commando.
Oban Lifeboat stood by throughout the ceremony, the high tide allowing it to come in close to the war memorial.
Following the ceremony the parade returned to the Corran Halls, where wreaths were lain on the 51st Highland Division cenotaph.
A bus then took members of the British Legion and Air Force cadets to Ganavan, where they paid respects and laid wreaths at the Royal Air Force cairn.
Iain Blair-Simmonds of the Royal British Legion Oban Branch said: “There was a good crowd and the weather was excellent.
“After the parade had gone there were a lot of French people who were buying crosses and placing them at the memorial.
“The streets were full, you couldn’t move. It was really nice. But very solemn. There was a good turnout.”
