Three people were taken to hospital yesterday after two separate crashes in the Highlands.
Two people were taken to hospital in Fort William after a head-on collision between a car and a van on the A830 Road to the Isles.
A police spokesman said the accident, which happened just west of Glenfinnan on the Fort William to Mallaig road, was reported at around 10.15am.
He said the pair, who were taken to Belford Hospital, were believed to be suffering from minor injuries.
The A830 was restricted to one lane of traffic until the vehicles were recovered from the scene.
In the aftermath, a small white car could be seen sitting in a ditch at the side of the road.
Its front end was badly damaged with the bonnet left crumpled. The driver’s air bag also appeared to have been deployed in the collision.
The white van suffered similar damage to its front.
Debris from both vehicles was left lying beside the road.
The A830 Road to the Isles is a popular tourist route and takes motorists past the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, which features in the Harry Potter films.
Less than an hour earlier, there was an accident on the Black Isle at around 9.40am, when a car left the A832 Cromarty-Tore road in Avoch.
The driver was not seriously injured, however he was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
The road remained opened while police and paramedics attended the scene.
The fire service were not called to either incident.
