A Lochaber community group has been named Scottish Tenant and Resident Group of the Year.
Plantation Community Association (PCA) received the accolade for making the Plantation, which is an area of Fort William, a “better place to live for all”.
The award, which was made by Tenant Participation Advice Service Scotland (TPAS Scotland), was presented to the association’s secretary Lesley Boath by celebrity weatherman Sean Batty at a special awards ceremony in St Andrews.
Ms Boath said: “Every day, the PCA is working to improve life for everyone who lives in the Plantation and getting this national award is great recognition of the positive impact we are having.”
She explained that, in the past year, the group was awarded more than £240,000 in lottery funding to help develop its Pine Grove amenity area.
She said: “We also work to improve housing conditions, run a weekly Kidz Club and organise lots of events, which build community spirit such as the Christmas dinner which we organise every year for our older residents.”
TPAS Scotland chief executive, Lesley Baird, said the volunteers had worked tirelessly” to make the Plantation a better place to live for all”.
She said: “The award went to the PCA for their vital work in improving services and community spirit in the Plantation.”
