Body found after search for missing Harris man

A body has been found during the search for a missing man on the Isle of Harris.

The man, who hasn’t yet been named, had last been seen at around 10.30am yesterday on the Isle of Harris.

An extensive search was carried out by coastguard and police after concerned family members raised the alarm.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We were called to assist in a search of a man missing from Govig.

“The coastguard was called and a helicopter and lifeboat were used.”

The spokeswoman said the next of kin were being informed.

It is understood the man had been out for a walk when he was last seen.

A spokeswoman for the coastguard confirmed it had assisted with the search, which went on till the early hours of this morning.
