A Lochaber medical practice has stopped dispensing non-urgent repeat prescriptions due to “significant” staff shortages.
However, the doctors at Ballachulish Medical Practice are still dispensing emergency prescriptions and medications prescribed at GP consultations.
An NHS Highland spokesman said: “Due to significant staff shortages in Ballachulish Medical Practice, it has been decided that the practice will temporarily suspend dispensing of routine, repeat, non-urgent prescriptions.
“The situation is being reviewed daily though it is likely to continue for at least one week.”
He added that patients would be issued with a paper copy of the prescription, which they could take to a pharmacy of their choice for dispensing and collection.
He said: “The practice apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.”
