A working group has been set up in a bid to boost tourism in an “overlooked” area of the Highlands.
Businesses and tourism groups have come together to try and increase the number of visitors to the Black Isle.
The effort is the brainchild of businesswoman of Lizbeth Collie of Black Isle Bicycles, with around 45 people attending a meeting to launch the project in Munlochy this week.
The Black Isle Tourism Group has been backed by development group North Highlands Initiative, after fears were raised that a number of potential visitors bypass the area heading for Inverness.
Black Isle Bicycles will act as a point of contact for businesses and groups wanting to be involved with the project.
Ms Collie said: “It turned out that a lot of the people who attended the meeting didn’t know each other so it showed that we really need to get people and businesses talking more.
“If people who live and work here don’t know what is going on then what chance have visitors got?
“A big thing that was raised was improving the signage and marketing of what we have to offer.
“One of the best things about the Black Isle, unlike other parts of the Highlands, is that everything is relatively close together, so you can have outdoor pursuits, eating out and the museums and cultural attractions within easy reach of each other.”
