An Argyll dental nurse has been cleared of misconduct.
Sharon Young, registered at the orthodontic department of Mid Argyll Hospital, Lochgilphead, appeared before the General Dental Council (GDC.)
She was accused of creating false records of orthodontic patient treatments on a computer system.
It was alleged that this happened in 2012 while employed by NHS Highland and was assisting the orthodontic clinic at Campbeltown Dental Centre.
Mrs Young had previously admitted asking a junior member of staff to make a false record of patient activity for January 25 and February 22. At that time it was submitted that her behaviour was a “one off”.
The GDC however, brought further charges that were dealt with at an inquiry last week. These claimed she again created false records of patient activity on six dates in August, September and October 2012.
They further claimed that on September 19 2012 she asked a junior member of staff to use the computer system in such a way that it created a false record.
It was alleged that her behaviour was “inappropriate, misleading, dishonest”.
However the findings by the GDC committee which dealt with the inquiry said: “We are not satisfied that Mrs Young’s actions were intended to mislead, nor was anyone in fact misled.
“The committee was not satisfied that Mrs Young’s behaviour was dishonest, either objectively or subjectively. There was no direct benefit to Mrs Young by her request and nobody was actively misled by her request.”
