A car ended up on its side after crashing two miles south of Dunbeath on the A9 Inverness-Thurso road at around 4.10pm. Four people were reportedly in the vehicle, although a fire service spokesman said that three managed to leave the vehicle before they arrived. He said that one person was trapped and crews were using stabilisation and cutting gear. Two fire crews from Wick and one from Thurso were sent to the scene, as well as the Lybster community response unit. The road was blocked in both directions for around an hour. An ambulance spokeswoman said that two people were taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick. There was no information about their injuries.
