Students at a Highland senior school are being given the opportunity to win £3,000 for the charity of their choice.
Pupils at Grantown Grammar School will split into teams to research areas of local social concern and the charities that help the people affected by these issues.
The teams will then give a presentation on their findings in the spring.
And the team that gives the most effective presentation will be able to give a £3,000 grant to their chosen charity to help with its work.
This is the third year the school has run the programme.
This year, local charities are being invited to attend a Charity Market Place at the school on Tuesday January 20 to tell pupils about the work they do in the hope of being chosen by one of the teams.
Teacher Dugal McCrow explained that the project formed part of the school’s Youth and Philanthropy Initiative programme for S2 pupils.
He said: “We want to invite as many charities as possible that deal with areas of local social concern, from helping children to supporting adults with addictions or those who have been victims of violence, to attend this market place.
“Pupils will then get a chance to listen to presentations from charities or talk in small groups with volunteers, and be better informed about the work these charities do in the local area, in the Strath or further afield in Highland.”
Any registered charities interested in attending the event should contact Mr McCrow on 01479 872649 or by e-mail at dmccrow515@highlandschools.org.uk
