Mountain rescuers are on their way to rescue an exhausted walker in the Cairngorms after he was caught in horrendous weather conditions.
The man is understood to have started to struggle after battling severe gales and waist deep snow drifts while descending Cairngorm mountain.
He has been in regular contact with members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team via text message and is believed to be somewhere within the ski area.
A rescue team spokesman said that the man was thought to have walked into a stream while trying to navigate his way down the hill.
Conditions in the mountain range have been difficult over the past few days because of blizzards and high winds.
The resort has been closed this week but hopes to open for snowsports tomorrow.
