Here we take a look at some of the latest standout planning applications submitted to and determined by Highland Council.
There are plans to build a new whisky distillery near Dornoch Firth and a proposed splitting of an Aviemore chip shop into three new businesses.
Planners have also approved the transformation of former bank into a holiday let and replacement roof covering for Wick public toilets.
Aviemore chip shop could be split into new businesses
Colin Armstrong Architects is representing Mrs Harkai in the application for Happy Haggis Fish and Chip Shop at 45 Grampian Road.
A subdivision of the shop is proposed – that effectively means the previous planning permission for the business would be split into three different things.
The three uses the business is looking for are classes 1 (shops), 2 (financial and professional services) and 3 (food and drink).
A new entrance screen is also proposed.
The fish and chip shop currently operates on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 4pm to 8pm.
Proposed distillery on banks of Dornoch Firth
An application has been submitted for a new whisky distillery on the banks of the Dornoch Firth.
The Midfearn Distillery Company has proposed building its distillery on the Midfearn Estate at Easter Fearn.
The site is three miles south-east of the village of Ardgay on the south banks of the Dornoch Firth.
In the past week, Highland Council has also determined some applications.
A former bank in Kyle will be turned into a holiday let, with the refurbishment of Wick public toilets also approved by planning chiefs.
Former bank to be turned into holiday let
In Kyle, a former bank will be transformed into a holiday let.
This comes after an application submitted by MacRitchie Bros on behalf of Wittets was given the green light.
The change of use will take place at the former Royal Bank of Scotland branch on Main Street in Kyle of Lochalsh.
The Royal Bank of Scotland branch in Kyle closed down in October 2018 following an independent review into 10 planned closures.
At the time, the closure caused anger.
Now it is hoped the building can aid the holiday accommodation offering.
Replacement roof covering for public toilets
The refurbishment and reroofing of Wick public toilets will take place.
Leslie Hutt Architect submitted an application on behalf of the Highland Council for the work on the Whitechapel public toilets.

The local authority is investing £250,000 to modernise the facilities.
The Whitechapel Road toilets were closed early in 2020 after being targeted in a series of acts of vandalism.
