One man was taken to hospital and another person was injured when the van in which they were travelling was involved in an accident on the A9 this morning.
A police spokeswoman said the incident at the Nigg roundabout on the Inverness to Thurso road happened at around 7.15am.
She said the male driver had to be cut free from the wreckage of the vehicle and was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
The other person suffered minor injuries in the accident, which closed the northbound carriageway for about an hour until the vehicle was recovered.
A fire service spokeswoman said appliances from Tain, Dornoch and Golspie attended and crews used an airbag retaining device and cutting gear to remove the driver’s door of the van.
And an ambulance spokeswoman confirmed that a man had been taken to Raigmore by ambulance, but she was unable to provide any information on his condition.
