The Met Office has issued a yellow “be aware” warning of heavy and persistent rain for parts of the Highlands from midday today until 11pm this evening.
The worst affected areas are expected to be western and central areas, where there could be up to 1.5ins.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Persistent and occasionally heavy rain will continue across much of Scotland through Thursday afternoon and into the evening before clearing to more showery conditions overnight.
“Some localised flooding from rivers and small watercourses is likely, mainly affecting low-lying agricultural land and a few roads within the warning area.”
He added that there was a risk of travel disruption.
