A rescue operation was launched this afternoon after a child fell onto the deck of a boat at Scrabster Harbour.
The incident happened around 12pm, and police officers, paramedics, a fire crew and coastguard were sent to the scene.
It is not known the circumstances that led to the accident, as the operation is still on-going.
However, it is understood the child is being airlifted to hospital.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service confirmed that a crew from Thurso had attended the scene to assist the paramedics on lifting the child from the boat.
