The Maritime & Coastguard Agency has confirmed it is searching the North Sea for “survivors” of the Cypriot registered ‘Cemfjord’, that was spotted upturned in the water. Eight people are understood to be on board. A spokeswoman for the body said the hull of a vessel was seen at 2.30pm 15 miles off the coast of Wick. It was last seen passing through the Pentland Firth on Friday afternoon, but has not been heard from since. Four lifeboats from Stromness, Scrabster, Longhope and Wick are currently searching the ship’s last know position in the Pentland Firth. The coastguard rescue helicopter from Sumburgh is also involved in the operation.
