Armed police sealed off part of a Wester Ross village last night after a report of a man with a weapon understood to be a crossbow.
Officers, with support from the force’s armed response unit and dog section, locked down the village’s Heathmount area after the alarm was raised at around 7.25pm.
A cordon remained in effect in the village for several hours while officers tried to trace the man and resolve the incident.
A 38-year-old man was detained by police about 1am. Police said that nobody was injured during the incident.
A spokeswoman add: “Police Scotland would like to thank residents of Kyle of Lochalsh for their patience and understanding during the matter.”
A report is due to be sent to the procurator fiscal.
