Two walkers have been rescued from the Cairngorms after getting into difficulty in “horrendous” conditions.
The pair were reported missing last night on the Cairngorm Plateau.
There were atrocious weather conditions in the area at the time, including 100mph winds, blizzards and lightning.
Members of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team went to find the walkers, who were spotted close to the north summit of Britain’s second highest peak, Ben Macdui.
They were walked down to a lower level where they were airlifted by helicopter.
Team leader Willie Anderson said said that conditions were “horrendous”.
He added that he was delighted to find the party as the chances of survival in the conditions were slim.
