‘I just want her to come home’: Family and townsfolk in Thurso in shock after Alesha, 18, plunges to her death

A teenager who fell 50ft to her death at a Caithness beauty spot has been described as “beautiful inside and out”.

Alesha Wright, 18, died at Victoria Walk in Thurso on Monday night.

A 26-year-old man, who also fell from the cliffs, is in a critical condition in hospital.

Police have launched an investigation in to the fall.

Kindness and beauty

On social media tributes have been paid to the teenager, with many describing her kindness and her beauty.

The Coastguard helicopter was called to assist.

Alesha’s mum Deb Jo, who had only spoken to her daughter a few hours before she died, said she was distraught.

She wrote online: “I just want her to come home.”

Doug JP Williamson posted: “Gutted to hear about Alesha really nice lass who helped me settle in a new town couldn’t have appreciated it more.”

“Alesha was a bright gorgeous girly,” friend Bridie Nicholson said.

Stacey Louise Bridge posted: “She was such a beautiful soul inside and out.”

Mike Smith posted on The Press and Journal page to say: “Very sad news to read and thoughts are with the family and friends and to the rescue teams involved.”

Mellissa Stubbings said: “Fly high my beautiful love you forever and ever pet. Will miss you forever. You touched all of our lives.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 5.50pm on Monday, July 11, officers were called to the Victoria Walk area in Thurso, following a report of a man and woman having fallen from a cliff.

“Emergency services and coastguard attended but an 18-year-old woman had died.

“Her next of kin have been informed. Her death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
