The Met Office has issued a further weather warning covering the north throughout today.
Forecasters have predicted winds of up to 70mph in northern and western parts, while heavy, persistent rain is likely to fall throughout the Highlands.
A Met Office spokesman said: “It will be yet another windy day, certainly for the Western Isles, northern isles and the more exposed parts at the north of the mainland.
“There’s a renewed threat of high winds, which could reach up to 70mph at lower levels so there’s certainly the risk of further disruption because of that.
“I would expect the wind to be around 50mph further east too, around Inverness and Easter Ross particularly.
“There will be heavy showers in most places, which will be quite wintry and will fall as snow to all levels at times during the day.
“I think it’s fair to say that winter’s not going away quite yet.”
