The Kingdom of Fife has been hired by owners of the Lysblink Seaways, DFDS, and arrived at the scene this morning. The nine crew members remain on board the vessel, which ran aground at Ardnamurchan Point, Kilchoan, at around 2am yesterday. Stornoway Coastguard were called following the incident and requested their tug from Shetland to aid the shipping vessel, but it was stood down. A Stornoway Coastguard spokesman said: “The tug arrived with the boat that’s aground. It just arrived at 4am. There’s a whole squad there. “Hopefully they do something with it today, but next high tide won’t be until this evening. They need as much water as they can beneath them.” The 423ft ship, believed to be carrying paper, was travelling from Belfast to Skogn in Norway when it ran into trouble. There was a small leak from the vessel but the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has said the risk of pollution remains low.
