A car was stuck with people trapped inside after road flooding in South Uist following a yellow rain warning.
The coastguard sent teams from Lochboisdale and Benbecula after police called them to the incident at 3.15pm.
It occurred near Kildonan Museum, a popular tourist location on the island.
The overnight and morning rain had caused nearby lochs to overfill.
Instead of water usually running under the road, it had overflowed onto the road by the afternoon.
A spokesman for the coastguard said: “The water wasn’t deep. It was only sort of a foot or so deep there. But I guess the car had conked out.
“But before our teams got on scene, the council had already pulled them out”.
High tide causes flooding to get worse
However, there could be more disruption in the area throughout the night.
The coastguard added: “I believe that they may be anticipating further issues with the high tide tonight.
“As the tide comes in, the lochs will no longer be able to drain into the sea as easily as they are now. So they may back up and cause the water level on the road to rise again.”
Earlier today the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for the West Coast and Hebrides.

Forecasters expected heavy rain, which was predicted to cause flooding and transport disruption throughout the day.
Bus and train users were told to expect longer journey times.
Road flooding was also highlighted as a potential issue.
Meanwhile, flooding of a few homes and businesses was deemed “likely.”
However, the yellow warning was only in place until 2pm.
