A children’s cancer charity felt some late winter warmth this week after receiving the proceeds of a carol concert held in Inverness in November.
The Highland Hospitals’ Carol Concert Committee has donated the £8,000 raised from their Eden Court performance to CLIC Sargent.
The concert featured the 65-strong Highland Health Services Choir conducted by John Crombie, former head of music at Kingussie High School and accompanied by Sheila Bruce, a well known local pianist.
Peter Logie, CLIC Sargent’s area fundraising manager for the north of Scotland, said: “The Highland Hospitals’ Christmas carol concert is always a real festive highlight, warming up folk for Christmas and this is a wonderful donation from a concert that is loved by audience and performers alike.
“The amount of money that has been raised enables the charity to support two Highland families all the way through the frightening and unpredictable period of treatment for their child with cancer.”
David Dean, chairman of the committee, said: “Thanks to the support of all carol concert goers we managed to fill Eden Court and hear the choir and audience at full strength and fine voice.”
Next year’s 40th anniversary carol concert will again be to the benefit of the work of CLIC Sargent.
