An operation to move a cargo ship which grounded off the west coast to a more sheltered position is about to start.
The Lysblink Seaways will be towed out of Mingary Bay, east of Kilchoan Pier, to Scallastle Bay on Mull.
With bad weather forecast for the rest of the week, it is believed the new anchorage will be safer.
The move has been authorised by Hugh Shaw, the Secretary of State’s representative for maritime salvage and intervention, and follows the successful transfer of fuel oil from cargo ship to the tug, Kingdom of Fife, this morning.
The Lysblink Seaways, which was carrying paper to Norway, crashed into rocks at Ardnamurchan Point a week ago.
The Kingdom of Fife will tow the Lysblink Seaways to Scallastle Bay, taking up to five hours to complete the 17 mile journey.
The emergency towing vessel, Herakles, will remain on standby during the operation.
The temporary exclusion zone of 656ft will remain in place while the vessel is moved.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the decision has the full support of the Scottish Environment Group and Marine Scotland.
