A body has been found during a search for a missing Western Isles man.
Police and Stornoway Coastguard have been carrying out air, land and sea searches to locate Duncan Macleod, from North Uist.
The 52-year-old was reported missing on Monday as his family hadn’t heard from him for almost a week.
Officers have now confirmed the body of Mr Macleod was discovered in the sea near Grimsay earlier today.
Formal identification has already taken place and his family has been informed.
Inspector Ian McCorquodale said: “Our thoughts are with Duncan’s family and friends.
“His family have asked for privacy and thanked everyone, including the local community and emergency services, involved in the searches for him.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
