A rural Highland road between Cawdor and Auldearn was closed for more than eight hours due to a three-car crash.
The incident happened at around 7.30am on Friday, November 25, on the B9101 between Cawdor and Auldearn, close to its junction with the A939.
Three vehicles were involved and the road was closed until 4pm.
Police later confirmed one 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and one woman was taken to hospital.
The fire service deployed two appliances from Nairn at 7.41am to assist following a request from the ambulance service.
Police confirmed that they were called to a three-vehicle crash at around 7.35am this morning.
They also confirmed that emergency services were on the scene, and advised motorists to use an alternative route while the road was closed.
