23-year-old dies following three-vehicle crash near Nairn

A 23-year-old man has died following a three-vehicle crash near Nairn.

The incident happened at around 7.30am on Friday, on the B9101 between Cawdor and Auldearn, close to its junction with the A939.

Police closed the road for more than eight hours while emergency services attended the scene.

The road was reopened at 4pm.

A woman was also taken to hospital by ambulance, the extent of her injuries is unknown.

Two fire service appliances from Nairn were tasked at 7.41am to assist following a request from the ambulance service.

Police ask the public for information

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for help.

Sergeant Christopher Donaldson said: “An investigation is under way to find out the cause of the collision and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch with us.

“In particular, if anyone has any dash cam footage which could assist our investigation, please pass it on.”

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 0492 of November 25.
