A popular Highland sporting event is to be resurrected after a six year break.
The Glen Affric Duathlon, which attracts hundreds of competitors and visitors to the area, will now be held to raise money for charity.
The organisers of the gruelling race, which incorporates a 7.5 mile hill run, followed by an 18 mile bike ride and 2.5 mile road and cross country run, have teamed up with ABO Wind UK who are the main sponsor of the event.
Entries have now opened for the event which will return on April 25.
Jim McAuley who sits on the race committee said: “We are delighted after contacting ABO Wind they have come on board and that we are able to bring this iconic race back to the area.
“This year will be even better than before. For the first time in its history we are able to introduce electronic timing which means we will be able to get results much faster than before.
“We are also hoping to make it a much more attractive event for the whole area and are organising a ceilidh on the Saturday evening following the race in that hope that more competitors and their supporters will stay in the stunning location and make the most of the surroundings.
“Now, we just need more people to enter. It’s a challenging but enjoyable race over mixed terrain, however it’s suitable for those interested in this type of race.”
Tom Harrison, project manager for ABO Wind said: “We were keen to get involved and we are pleased the £4,000 donation has meant the organisers are able to introduce a charity aspect and one which we support ourselves.
“We wish the competitors taking part all the best and hope they have a great race.”
Money raised will go to Cash for Kids.
