Highland motorists face disruption in the next few days as works start on several roads and bridges in the west.
At Spean Bridge, the A82 Inverness-Fort William road and the A86 road to Laggan will be resurfaced after significant premature deterioration.
The works will be carried out on Sunday at the junction between the two trunk routes.
It means that the A86 will be shut between 9pm and 6am to allow the works to take place.
A convoy system will be in place for traffic on the A82 for limited periods.
And there will be overnight road closures in Argyll when improvement works start on three bridges.
Bridge investigation works are to be carried out on Falls of Cruachan Bridge, west of the Cruachan Visitor Centre, start on Monday for three days, between 7am and 7pm, with one overnight closure on Tuesday March 10 between 9pm and 6am.
Tulla Bridge, near Bridge of Orchy on the A82 Inverness to Glasgow road, will close at 8pm on Friday March 13 for resurfacing. The bridge is expected to reopen at 6am the next day.
And essential repairs to a damaged section of parapet and replacement of a damaged overhead beam will be carried out on Connel Bridge.
The overnight works start Monday March 16 for five nights, between midnight and 6am.
The project is expected to be completed by Saturday March 21.
There will be no passage for traffic or pedestrians due to the heavy lifting and welding operations being undertaken.
Traffic will be diverted along the A85, A82 and A828 trunk roads via Tyndrum and Ballachulish. Passage across the bridge will be provided for emergency services.
Eddie Ross, Bear Scotland’s representative for the north west, said: “These works are essential to ensure the upkeep and general maintenance of these trunk road bridges in Argyll.
“We have timed these works to ensure that disruption to local motorists is kept to a minimum, with any road closures taking place overnight.
“At A82 Tulla Bridge and A85 Falls of Cruachan Bridge, we will ensure a system is in place to allow waiting vehicles to pass through the works at regular intervals. At A828 Connel Bridge the nature of the works means a complete bridge closure is unavoidable, however we have restricted our working times to ensure that it takes place when travel is minimal and a diversion route will be in place instead.”
