Inverness TikTok sensation Katie Gregson-MacLeod is celebrating the release of her first EP album, just three months after signing with Columbia Records.
The 21-year-old singer-songwriter rose to fame after a 45-second video of her demo track Complex went viral on the social media platform.
To date, more than 8.1 million people have viewed the clip on TikTok, which garnered widespread interest from high-end record labels.
In September, she signed with Columbia Records, and released her highly-anticipated new single, a reworking of Complex.
Three months on, the young performer is celebrating the biggest release of her life as her EP titled Songs Written for Piano has gone live.
‘I feel very, very lucky’
The singer has already had more than 17 million streams on Spotify this year.
Taking to Instagram, she said she couldn’t wait for her fans to hear what she has been busy working on.
She wrote: “My EP Songs Written for Piano is out. These songs mean a lot to me and I can’t wait for them to be out in the world.
“I feel very, very lucky to have been around a piano my whole life. Growing up, it was always the instrument I turned to for writing, and it feels so fitting to be releasing this body of work following a life-altering few months which has brought in so many new ears.
“I’m gonna talk about each track in more depth over the next wee while but for now, I hope you enjoy.”
Katie becomes worldwide sensation
Katie was studying history at Edinburgh University and working part-time at Perk Coffee and Doughnuts in Inverness when her life changed forever.
In August, she posted the video singing the chorus of her unreleased song Complex, which resonated with viewers from across the world.
Within hours, more than 100,000 people had viewed the clip, earning her worldwide attention.
As she signed on the dotted line with Columbia Records, she teamed up with Adele’s producer to rework her single Complex.
The track is produced by nine-time Grammy award winner Greg Kurstin, who oversaw Adele’s global smash-hit albums 25 and 30.
Prior to the much-anticipated release of her EP, the 21-year-old musician thanked everyone who had helped her reach this major milestone, in particular her record label and her parents.
She added: “To Martin Dell and the team at Columbia UK for being the best, and understanding what I was trying to do from the outset.
“To Lorna Gregson-MacLeod and Michael Gregson for raising me with so much music in the house.”
Songs Written for Piano can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music.
