An Inverness GP surgery has undergone a major extension to help meet the growing demand for health care.
Southside Surgery has extended into new premises at neighbouring property, Southside Lodge, to meet the increasing needs of the practice population.
As well as primary care mental health services, the surgery is expanding what it offers.
It will now be able to offer first contact physiotherapy, a community link worker, and pharmacotherapy.
The works follow a recent extension of the clinic’s boundary, which extends into Culloden in the east and into the canal to the west.
Inverness surgery will benefit from more services on site
Practice manager Beth Colliar said the expansion was necessary to meet its growing patient roster.
She said: “I am delighted to announce the completion of this project which allows us to have additional services available at the surgery for the convenience of our patients.
“Our patient numbers are increasing as our list remains open to new patients and the expansion of our premises is timely to give us additional space.
“We have recently extended our practice boundary, which now extends into Culloden in the East and the Canal to the West. All the renovation works were undertaken by local contractors as we are keen to support local businesses.”
The renovation of the lodge at 45 Southside Road included the creation of additional consulting rooms as well as a waiting room, a meeting room, a training suit, and administration offices.
The project has also seen the Southside Road Surgery’s car parking area increase.
An NHS Highland spokesman said: “Congratulations to Southside Road Surgery on its new space. It’s great to see the range of staff and services extended.
“Having a team with different specialties means that people will be able to
see someone who can help with a specific issue and save time spent waiting for referrals.”
