A stricken cargo ship which ran aground in the west Highlands arrived at a repair yard yesterday evening.
The Lysblink Seaways was towed 150 nautical miles to a yard at Inchgreen near Greenock on the Firth of Clyde.
The 7,500-tonne ship grounded last month on rocks at Kilchoan while carrying a load of paper from Belfast to Norway.
It set off under tow from tugs Luca, Afon Menai and Forth Jouster on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Greenock at around 6.45pm on Thursday.
Hugh Shaw, the secretary of state’s marine salvage representative Maritime Salvage and Intervention who agreed the passage plan for the 150 nautical mile trip said the tow had been handled well.
A temporary exclusion zone will remain in place around the Lysblink Seaways until she entered the Sound of Jura.
She had previously been berthed in Scallacastle Bay in the Sound of Mull after refloating herself.
The Scottish Environment Group continues to monitor events and is supporting the work being done.
