Severe weather warnings and flood alerts have been issued for heavy rain in the Highlands this weekend, especially in the Loch Ness area.
The Met Office have issued an amber “be prepared” warning for the Loch Ness area lasting from Friday evening until the early hours of Sunday.
A yellow “be aware” warning has also been issued covering large parts of the western Highlands and Argyll and Bute over the same period.
The Met Office say that the wettest conditions will be over the west Highlands and rain will feed rivers draining into and out of Loch Ness, bringing a risk of property and road flooding in the area.
The agency has warned that the public should be prepared for this risk and for travel disruption on Saturday and into Sunday morning.
The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) has also issued a flood alert covering Argyll and Bute, Easter Ross, the Great Glen, Skye, Lochaber and Wester Ross over the same period.
Sepa has said that the predicted heavy rainfall and melting snow is expected to lead to flooding at lower levels.
The flood warning for the Highlands comes on the same day that forecasters predicted glorious sunshine and temperatures warmer than Majorca and Turkey in the north east.
