The A82 is to remain closed overnight between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit.
A rock fall forced the closure of the road earlier today and authorities have now confirmed the road will not re-open the road this evening.
BEAR Scotland, who manages trunk roads across the north of Scotland issued a statement saying: “The A82 will remain closed overnight between Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit for safety reasons, despite the best efforts of BEAR Scotland and Forestry Commission colleagues.
“They have been working across the afternoon to make the slope above the road safe following a rock fall earlier today. However, geotechnical experts have advised that further work is required before the road can reopen.
“The work cannot be carried out during the hours of darkness so teams will assess the site at first light tomorrow, and an update will be provided in the morning.”
