Fort William High Street was closed as a man threatened to jump off a building in the town centre.
Police, the fire brigade and paramedics went to the scene of the incident, which started around 9pm on Saturday.
It is understood the man was on the roof of a building housing an Indian restaurant.
The street was busy with revellers at the time and members of the public were warned to stay away from the area while police officers tried to calm the man.
The incident was resolved at around 12.20am and the street reopened shortly afterward.
A police spokeswoman said the man was not injured.
