Police in Inverness yesterday issued a safety warning after snowball cakes full of poisonous pills were found in the in the Merkinch area of Inverness.
The discovery was made on Tuesday after a member of the public found the coconut flavour cakes on a grassy area on Old School Place.
Small blue pills, believed to be the blood thinning medication Warfarin, were found to be stuffed inside the the cakes.
The pills can be extremely harmful if consumed without prescription, and can be used to control pests such as rats and mice.
A police spokeswoman said that police were “keeping an open mind” about why the Warfarin was placed in the cakes, although it has been theorised that they were stuffed with the poisonous substance in an attempt to kills seagulls.
