The Met Office has issued a yellow “be aware” warning for winds of up to 70mph in the Highlands. While the Western Isles is not covered by the warning, the conditions have taken their toll on scheduled ferry journeys to the islands. Calmac Ferries is warning of continued disruption throughout the day because of adverse conditions. The 1.30pm Oban-Colonsay-Port Askaig services is cancelled, however the 6pm Port Askaig-Kennacraig service will run. The 12pm service from Oban to Lismore is off and ferry bosses will decide at 1.30pm whether the 2.15pm and 3.15pm sailings will go ahead. The Small Isles services and the Mallaig-Lochboisdale service are also cancelled. Several other services are disrupted and passengers are being advised to check with the operator before travelling to the terminal.
