An Orkney couple are offering a £1,000 reward for the safe return of their missing pet.
Black, grey and white cat Lady Thor vanished from her South Ronaldsay home more than five weeks ago.
Owners Hamish and Carole Mowatt believe the three-year-old may have got into one of the many tourist cars visiting the area near their home at Skerries Bistro.
The couple, who are both in their 60s, have been told about a string of potential sightings of Lady Thor in the Tankerness area of the island, about 25 miles north of their home.
Lady Thor is black and grey with a white underside and feet and a distinctive brown patch under her chin.
She got her name because she turned up under the Mowatts’ car on a Thursday when she was aged about two months.
They realised their pet had disappeared when she failed to appear at the window for her morning feed.
Mr Mowatt said: “We believed at one point that she probably went on the midday ferry. We have cars driving down here regularly between 9am and 12pm and that is when she went missing. If she has gone to mainland Scotland we fear that we will never see her again.
“She is not a friendly cat with anyone else and won’t let anyone come within 15ft of her. She is a very special and beautiful cat. She is like a dog in the way she follows me around, so it is like a death in the family.
“We have put up the £1,000 reward, but the people who may have seen her recently are not wanting to take the money and have been very helpful.”
