The search for a missing hillwalker on Ben Nevis has been suspended this morning because of heavy snow.
Kyle Knox, 23, from London was last seen on Monday morning setting off on a trip to Scotland’s highest mountain.
A major search operation was launched on the mountain and in the Glen Nevis area but failed to turn up any trace of Mr Knox.
There efforts were hampered by bad weather and poor ground conditions.
Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team warned last night of a serious avalanche risk on the mountain.
A police spokeswoman said that conditions will be assessed as the day goes on and said the search for Mr Knox will resume when conditions are deemed safe.
She added: “Police Scotland extends appreciation to all personnel involved in yesterday’s search efforts, which took place in very challenging conditions.
“Anyone who may have sighted Mr Knox in the vicinity of Glen Nevis is urged to contact police on 101. Police are grateful to those who have made contact with this information to date.”
