The north’s ski centres are in a buoyant mood ahead of Easter weekend with several inches of fresh snow and light winds forecast.
Ski centres in the west have enjoyed the best of the snow this week, with Nevis Range having an 18 inch fall in the past week.
Light winds and a favourable forecast are looking promising for the Easter weekend itself at most of the ski resorts.
Glenshee Ski Centre will not be taking part in the Easter celebrations, having closed for the season last week due to a lack of snow.
Nevis Range are especially upbeat about their prospects – and will be holding a high altitude egg rolling to mark Easter Sunday.
A spokeswoman for the centre said that the mountain had received around 18.5 inches in the past week, with a further few inches expected to fall in the next few days.
Most of the centre’s runs and lifts are open and are expected to remain so throughout the weekend.
A spokeswoman for the centre said: “It’s looking pretty good for Saturday with a low south-easterly wind and cloudy overhead.
“Sunday looks pretty much the same except the wind is coming out the north-west which we will hardly feel.
“We may even get a dusting of some fresh snow.”
Glencoe Mountain Resort has also enjoyed a fresh dump of around 2ft of fresh snow and will also be hosting Easter themed events.
CairnGorm Mountain will be hosting its Ptarmigan Slopestyle challenge, which brings several of the north’s best snowboarders together.
The mountain has had less snowfall than the more western resorts, but still received around 3ins of fresh snow.
Marketing manager Ross Coulter said: “It should be a busy weekend for us, which we are looking forward to.
“High winds are our biggest concern but the forecast is looking good on that front.”
The Lecht Ski Centre is also hoping to open some of its higher runs at the weekend, although lower areas do not have enough snow.
