Two mountain rescue teams were in action last night after people became stuck on two of Scotland’s most famous peaks.
Skye Mountain Rescue Team were called to help two walkers off Sgurr nan Gillean in the Cuillin last night.
And Lochaber MRT were also called out to help two female climbers who had become cragfast on Castle Ridge on Ben Nevis.
The Skye team were called out 8.05pm after two walkers reported bein in difficulty near the summit of Sgurr Nan Gillean,
The climbers, a man in his mid-50s and a woman in her early-30s who are believed to be from outwith the Highlands, were located in the dark by the rescuers.
The group were able to walk off the mountain safely and reached their base at Sligachan just after 3am.
The new Inverness based Bristow search helicopter Rescue 951 was called to help recover the stuck climbers on Ben Nevis, with the support of Lochaber MRT.
The two women, both in their mid-20s and from outwith the Highlands, had become stuck after their rope jammed while they abseiled off the popular climbing route just before 6pm.
They were recovered by the helicopter and taken back to the rescue team’s base at Torlundy both safe and well.
Meanwhile a search for missing hillwalker Kyle Knox, 23, remains suspended this morning due to poor ground conditions.
Mr Knox, who is from London, was last seen on Monday morning setting out for Ben Nevis.
A major search operation was sparked on Tuesday after he failed to report to his accommodation in Fort William.
Mountain rescue teams and specialist police units combed the mountain and the surrounding Glen Nevis area on Wednesday for signs of Mr Knox but were unsuccessful.
The search was suspended on Thursday because of bad weather and poor ground conditions.
A police spokesman said this morning that it remained too dangerous to continue the search for Mr Knox on the ground, but confirmed that their investigation into his whereabouts is ongoing.
