Man brandished Buckfast bottle and told victim: ‘You’re not so hard now’

Logan Williamson had previous issues with his victim, and when he spotted him in the street when with another man he decided to "pay it back".

Tain Sheriff Court.
Logan Williamson admitted brandishing the Buckfast bottle at Tain Sheriff Court.

A man brandished a Buckfast bottle and told his victim: “You’re not so f***ing hard now.”

Logan Williamson had previous issues with his victim, and when he spotted him in the street when with another man he decided to “pay it back”.

But the man fled and called police, who charged Williamson with threatening or abusive behaviour.

The 22-year-old, of Gordon Terrace, Invergordon, appeared at Tain Sheriff Court to admit the charge.

Fiscal depute Karen Poke told the court that the incident took place just after 7.30pm on April 23 last year.

She said the witness have been walking home along Castle Avenue when he spotted two males headed towards him.

Ms Poke said: “He recognised them as the accused and his cousin, the accused turned to the complainer and said: ‘You’re not so f***ing hard now!”

The man replied: “No, but there are two of you.”

Man brandished Buckfast bottle

The second man then said: “Is that right? Let’s go,” before handing Williamson a bottle of Buckfast, which he brandished “in a threatening manner”.

The complainer then fled the scene, before alerting police who subsequently traced Williamson.

Solicitor Bruce Short, for Williamson, told the court the incident had arisen following an ongoing issue between the pair.

He said: “There had been an incident previously with the gentleman where Mr Willamson was on the receiving end of some abuse, he took this opportunity to pay back and he should not have done that.”

Sheriff Gary Aitken deferred sentencing on Williamson for the production of a criminal justice social work report. The case will call again in April.
