A truck driver had a lucky escape when his fully-laden timber lorry crashed off an Argyll road this morning and overturned.
The HGV came to grief on bends near Castle Stalker, Appin, and landed upside down at the edge of the road.
It was travelling towards Fort William on the A828 Connel to Ballachuilish road.
Sergeant Alan Moore of Oban Police Station said: “A fully laden timber lorry came off the road just after 6.30am. No persons have been injured. A 28-year-old man has been charged with Section 3 of the Road Traffic Act, careless driving.”
The road was not closed by the crash but police said they will have to close it for a short time while the recovery operation takes place later today.
Chisholms Recovery Specialists from Ballachuilish are making their way to the scene.
Alan MacLeod, who lives 55 yards from the scene of the accident at Portnacroish, Appin, said he was wakened by a “tremendous crash”.
He said: “I wondered what on earth it could have been. I didn’t see it until I was coming out of the house at 8.30am. It was a totally upside down timber lorry. I am surprised that no-one was hurt. That is fantastic to hear.”
