Four appliances were called to the Spean Bridge Hotel after flames took hold of the three story building at around 3.30pm. A spokeswoman for the fire service said much of bar and dining room had been spoiled. She added: “There was also smoke and fire damage to three bedrooms.” “The fire was mostly in the roof space of the building and was put out at just after 10.30pm.” No one was inside the hotel at the time of the incident. The hotel, which is beside the main A82 Fort William-Inverness road, was originally a coaching inn dating back to the 17th century.
