Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has called for action to address housing problems in the Highlands.
The veteran politician, who is battling for re-election, said housing was the biggest local issue raised by his former constituents in Ross, Skye and Lochaber in the last parliament.
He said: “I believe it is a disgrace that two thirds of occupied properties in Highland currently fail the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.
“All too often the only accommodation available has a lack of space or is inadequate, causing health problems to residents.
“If nothing is done, young people will have no choice but to leave the Highlands.”
