Motorists are facing a week of disruption as replacement culvert works get underway on part of a main Highland road.
A section of the A86 Kingussie to Spean Bridge road will be closed to all traffic from Monday between Laggan village and the Drumgask junction with the A889 General Wade’s Military road.
Work will start at 7am on a section of the A86 at Laggan Causeway and will remain in place for one week.
During the closure an alternative diversion route will be signposted via the A86/A889 and A9 via Kingussie.
The new culvert will replace an existing stone drain that has collapsed causing some subsidence in the carriageway, and will be carried out by BEAR Scotland.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative, said: “We do everything possible to minimise disruption when work is taking place but we have to replace the full road width on this occasion and a full closure is required to do that.
“We would ask drivers to pay attention to the traffic measures and temporary signage in place during the work and to plan ahead as much as possible before starting their journey.”
