A 44-year-old man has been charged following an incident in Tain.
Officers were called to a property on Burgage Drive in the Highland town on Wednesday.
They received reports of disturbance and concern for a person at around 2.30pm.
Emergency services spent more than five hours at the scene, with some reports suggesting there were also officers with police dogs.
Nearby residents reported seeing 10 police vehicles stationed around the property, as well as armed police.
Ambulance crews are also understood to have been in attendance.
‘We’ve never had anything like that here’
One local, who wanted to remain anonymous, thought something serious must have happened given the amount of cops in the area.
He said: “I came out to have a cigarette and saw the police van, and I thought ‘What the hell are they doing’. And then I went upstairs and saw the whole stramash.
“I saw the armed police search to start with – the police coming out and the ambulance afterwards. There were around four vans and six police cars.
“We’ve never had anything like that in this area.”
