Shetland Coastguard was first notified the Loch Inchard had encountered steering problems, around six miles north of Scrabster, at around 5.20pm. Thurso Lifeboat was launched a short time later to assist the ship and tow it back to Scrabster Harbour. The lifeboat was stood down at around 6.50pm.
