Motorists in the north can get a glimpse of plans for dualling part of the A9 Inverness-Perth road later this month.
Details of four projects which cover 24 of the 80 miles of the Scottish Government’s ambitious programme will go on show at venues in the Highlands and Perthshire.
Exhibition material for Tay Crossing to Ballinluig, Killiecrankie to Pitagowan, Pitagowan to Glen Garry, and Glen Garry to Dalwhinnie projects, will be displayed.
The Scottish Government has committed to dualling the road from Inverness to Perth by 2025, as part of a £3billion project.
Derek Mackay, Minister for Transport & Islands, said: “The preparation work is moving on apace and locals and road users can see our early design plans which give more detailed analysis of route and junction options for four dualling projects- covering around a third of the overall programme.
“We are pressing ahead to make the A9 safer, and in addition to the shorter term measures we are taking, we recognise the need to get construction under way as soon as possible to dual those sections of remaining single trunk road. The first of this construction work is expected to start this summer between Kincraig and Dalraddy, and when complete will be a welcome improvement for users of the A9.
“I would encourage anyone with an interest in the latest design work to come visit one of the venues over the next few weeks and provide their feedback.”
The first exhibition will be for the Killiecrankie to Pitagowan stage at Killiecrankie Village Hall on Wednesday, May 27 from 11am-4pm and Thursday, May 28 from 4pm-8pm.
Plans for the Pitagowan to Glen Garry and Glen Garry to Dalwhinnie projects will be shown in Blair Atholl Village Hall on Tuesday, June 2 from 11am to 4pm and Wednesday, June 3 from 4pm-8pm.
Details of the Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project will be show in Mid Atholl Hall in Ballinluig on Tuesday, June 9 from 11 am-4 pm and Wednesday, June 10 from 4 pm-8 pm.
