This is the moment a northern lifeboat towed a powerless ship to safety.
Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI was called to assist the Whale & Dolphin Research Vessel, which was dragging its anchor, on Saturday, June 6 at 4.43pm.
The three-strong crew was also having difficulty starting the engine of the 54 ft long boat.
The lifeboat arrived on scene just after 5pm, by which time the ketch was close to grounding on the shore at Ratagan.
A crew member climbed aboard the casualty vessel to assess the situation, before towing the ship into deep water where the engine was inspected and temporarily fixed.
One of the crewmen said: “Luckily one of our volunteers who responded to the pager and was on the crew for this callout was the lifeboat mechanic and he was able to make a temporary repair to the vessels engine.
“The location and size of the vessel along with the changeable, squally weather conditions closer to Kyle meant that it would have been a tricky tow back if the engines could not have been started.”
The lifeboat returned to station at 7:15pm and was refuelled and made ready for service.
