Oban Lifeboat has been busy with two call outs in the space of 24 hours.
The 40ft fishing vessel Alaska suffered gear box failure quarter of a mile from the shore at Wilson’s Point in the Ross of Mull yesterday morning.
Stornoway Coastguard called the lifeboat out at 8.10am and it reached the fishing boat, with three people aboard, at 9.08am.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: “The fishing boat anchored itself using its gear so was never in any danger.”
The lifeboat towed Alaska back to Oban.
The lifeboat was also called out on Thursday at 2.30pm, when a 28ft yacht with two people aboard grounded near Port Ramsay at the north end of the isle of Lismore.
The yacht managed to get afloat without any assistance but as contact between the Coastguard and the yacht had been lost, the lifeboat was tasked to locate the vessel and assist where necessary.
The lifeboat located the vessel as they were approaching the moorings inside Shuna, ascertained they were all fine and the vessel not taking on water and then returned to station.
